| Along the way… |
This is an unforgettable trip into the heart of a nature untouched by man. "Tal como ves" (as you see it) as Don Umberto said. And like a kid, I lived a dream: on horseback galloping over the pampa or in a pirogue catching incredible fish, far from the imaginable…
The place? In the immense province of Beni, in the village of Bella Vista, at the confluence of Rio San Martin and Rio Blanco, at one of those "frontiers" where only indigenous tribes and a few rare pioneers live. The difficult access has preserved this unique Ecosystem, virtually free of human interferences.
Here we find the best food imaginable. We sample delicious fish, undoubtedly the finest meat in Bolivia, and a huge variety of fruits... As for the eyes, the show never stops in this fabulous region where so many animal species live: parrots, wild cats, turtles, capybaras, anacondas, toucans, otters, caimans, piranhas …and many more.
In the evenings, we will enjoy the hospitality of Marcela and Claude, who have created on their property "el Tucunaré" a haven of serenity in a rare style, a real dream setting environment.
To reach this Garden of Eden, we take a small private plane from Trinidad, the capital of Beni. This is a special trip (4 to 8 people maximum per week) in an atmosphere of adventure.
Note: The lodge El Tucunaré is ideal for those interested in fishing, contact us about this option.

| PROGRAM |
| |
Day 1: LA PAZ – TRINIDAD – BELLA VISTA |
 |
Transfer to the airport for the flight La Paz – Trinidad (1 ½ hours – variable times depending on the day of the week). Once we arrive in Trinidad, we immediately depart in a private plane (type CESSNA) for Bella Vista, where we land in the grass after a 1-hour flight. After being picked up at the airport we cross the village on a carretón (ox-cart, traditional means of transportation still in use in the region) to reach the lodge.
After a welcome cocktail, we find our comfortable huts (water, hot showers) then go visit the surroundings discover the 28 types of fruit trees preserved during the construction of the lodge and 42 other different varieties of plants.
In the afternoon, we stroll on the grassy streets of the small village of Bella Vista. We meet the villagers, visit its incredible church (the cement steeple, around 30 meters tall, represents two giant hands praying skywards) and discover the local handicraft (ceramics, ponchos, articles braided out of cane or coconut tree leaves, leather…).
In the evening, folkloric entertainment, local songs and dances.
Everything included, Night at the lodge.

Day 2: BELLA VISTA |
 |
Early wake up call at 5:30 a.m. With the first rays of sun we embark on the San Martin River. Numerous birds and wild animals, rushing towards the river at first light, accompany us.
After a boat trip of an hour and a half, we visit “California”, a little village nested in the heart of the Amazon. There, we will eat breakfast before continuing our expedition by boat towards “Orícore”, the hill of gold in the Itonoma dialect.
Once we disembark, a 20 minute-climb will allow us to enjoy a superb panoramic view of the surrounding nature.
We return the way we came to the lodge where lunch awaits us.
In the afternoon we go back to our boat, this time on the Rio Blanco to reach Salitral (20mns), a pond of salted water where most of the forest’s fauna comes to quench their thirst.
In a sheltered bay, we come across the “Reina Victoria” famous water lily that can attain 2 meters in diameter.
Return to the loge at the end of the afternoon.
Everything included. Night at the lodge.
|
| |
Day 3: BELLA VISTA |
 |
During the morning, we transfer first in pirogues then by 4WD (45 minutes of dirt road) to the estancia Guachababa.
After a well-served breakfast we participate in the work of the hacienda (on horseback), including managing livestock, depending on the season, entrance and exit of stock to and from the corral, transfer to pastures, selection of cattle, vaccination… Those who have ever dreamed of being a cowboy will be fulfilled.
In the afternoon, we leave for a horseback ride. We ride to a lagoon where we can observe numerous crocodiles, capihuaras (the biggest rodent in the world), ostriches and ducks…
At the end of the day we return to the estancia on horseback and from there to the lodge with the 4WD.
Everything included. Night at the lodge.
|
| |
Day 4: BELLA VISTA |
 |
In the morning we start on the Baure River. Depending on the water level, we can enter an “arroyo” (small secondary extension of the river) named “Trinidadcito” (small Trinidad) that regularly hosts a colony of otters that coexist in harmony with the caimans.
If the water is too low, we continue on foot following the riverbanks.
We can then prepare our rods to fish the piranhas that populate in large quantities some of the water pockets.
10 minutes from there, we discover the giant stones of Verdun or “Orguayaya”.
Return to the lodge in the middle of the day. Afternoon open that you can spend bathing at the beautiful beaches of the village.
All included, Night at the lodge.
|
| |
Day 5: BELLA VISTA – TRINIDAD – LA PAZ |
