Overland Altiplano / Lipez Expedition (4WD vehicle)

Year-Round. From June to September, nights on the Altiplano can be very cold. Lipez: generally sunny days, windy in the afternoon. Accommodation is often very basic - Strong backpack or travel bag + small day-pack - Good sleeping bag (for – 10ºC at least) - Warm clothes (windbreaker and fleece / cap / gloves / warm socks etc.) - Hiking boots - Sun-block - Hat - Sunglasses - Head torch with spare bulb and batteries - Personal first-aid kit

Altiplano Treks

From March to November. Nights can be very cold on the Cordillera - Strong backpack or travel bag + small day-pack - Good sleeping bag (at least for – 15ºC) - Ground mat - Warm clothes (waterproof-breathable (type Gore-Tex) and polar clothes / cap / gloves / warm socks) - Waterproof jacket/poncho - Hiking boots - Hiking poles (can be rented in La Paz) - Sun-block - Hat - Sunglasses - Headlamp with spare bulb and batteries - Knife - Water bottle - Personal first-aid kit

3 / Climbing in the Andes

From March to November. Nights can be very cold on the Cordillera - Strong backpack or travel bag + small day-pack - Very good sleeping bag (at least for – 15ºC) - Ground mat - Individual technical equipment: harness, ice axe, plastic boots, crampons, gaiters (can be rent in La Paz) - Technical mountain waterproof-breathable (type Gore-Tex) shell - waterproof pants - cold condition gear - Two pairs of gloves (one in polar, the other one waterproof), mittens recommended - fleece hat - Warm socks (many pairs) - Hiking boots - High protection sun-block - Hat - Glacier sunglasses - Headlamp with spare bulb and batteries - Knife - Water bottle - Personal first-aid kit

4 / Yungas and Amazon

From March to November. Very good climate out of rainy season (December to February) Important: No mandatory vaccines in Bolivia. Yellow Fever and malaria treatment suggested for the Amazon area, no particular recommendation for the Yungas - Light clothes (T-shirt, short sleeved) - some warm clothes for the evening - rain coat - Bathing suit - Mosquito repellent - Sun-block - Hat - Sunglasses - Personal first-aid kit. Note: in the Amazon region, all places are equipped with mosquito nets.
