TITICACA PASSION
Tiwanaku – Copacabana – Isla del Sol

Discovery 3 Days Year round Year round Spanish or English speaking

Along the way…

Lake Titicaca is certainly the most sacred lake of the Andean culture: according to the legend Tunupa, the God who created the Aymaras, was born from this inland sea. This ancient culture, which thrived for thousands of years, established its “capital” at Tiwanaku. Following this belief, the Incas who conquered this area instigated a legend according to which the God Sun Viracocha dropped his son Manco Cápac, the first Inca, and his spouse Mama Ocllo off on the Isla del Sol (Island of the Sun)
This religious syncretism was followed by the Spanish: The offering site of Illapa, the Thunder God, was converted in a Calvary and a pilgrimage site dedicated to the Virgin Mary of Copacabana. She granted so many miracles that a Brazilian pilgrim decided to bring a replicate to the little fort defending the bay of Río, which will later on site the name to the famous Carioca beach.
This varied trip will allow you to discover the important sites of the Andean History, outdoor, while enjoying the pure air descending from the highest summits of the close by Cordillera Real.
