This trip allows you to discover the rich cultural heritage of the capital of “Chuquisaca”.
Sucre “The White City”, Bolivia’s first capital is today a quiet provincial city of unequaled architectural wealth. No tall buildings disturb the harmony of this quaint town. Let the sun-bleached stones, the multi-leveled red roofs and the simple and clear lines of the numerous town’s steeples speak for themselves.
The surrounding areas offer unexpected scenery and treasures such as cave painting, fossilized dinosaur prints and meteorite crater. The weavers of this area are also known for their unique work that you will find at the local market . . .

We meet in the hotel hall at 9 a.m. for a guided visit of the colonial city registered as a World Heritage city by UNESCO. Amongst others: ethnographic textile museum (ASUR), Casa de la Libertad (closed on Sunday afternoons and Mondays), Recoleta convent, cathedral and San Felipe Nery monastery…

Departure at 7:30 a.m. in our private 4WD for the village of Chaquatila and its charming chapel with its Virgin of the same name. A beautiful 8-kilometer walk takes us to the site of Incamachay where we find some anthropomorphic and geomorphic cave paintings etched with different combinations of red and white and estimated to be 2500 years old! We return to Chaquatila for lunch.
We meet our vehicle to go visit the multicolored Maragua crater, made by a meteor (1-hour trip). A short walk (40 minutes) takes us to the most beautiful site of the region for dinosaur imprints. Return to Sucre at the end of the day.

Jatun Yampara is a success of ecotourism and sustainable development. This indigenous community chose to preserve its traditions as well as its “Yampara” culture. Two different ethnic groups have chosen to live there: Jalq´as and Tarabuco famous for their weaving and ceramics.
Departure from the hotel at 9 a.m. in our private vehicle. We discover the daily life and the customs of this community by visiting the workshops, the ancient tombs called “chullpas”, the school… We then walk around the area to discover the fauna (it is not rare to spot condors) and the local flora used by locals for their medicinal properties.
If this day is a Sunday, we will go all the way to the village of Tarabuco hosting one of the most renowned indigenous markets of the continent. Return to Sucre at the end of the day Lunch included. Dinner open. Hotel ***.
