Overland Altiplano / Lipez Expedition (All Terrain Vehicle)

All year.
The nights can be very cold on the Altiplano from June to September. Lipez: generally sunny days with wind in the afternoon. Housing conditions are often summary.

  • backpack or sturdy travel bag (type sailor bag) + small personal bag
  • good sleeping bag (at least resistant to – 10ºC)
  • warm clothing (wind and fleece / hat / gloves / socks …)
  • walking shoes

Trekking Altiplano

  • individual technical equipment: harness, ice ax, plastic hulls, crampons, gaiters, helmet (can be rented in La Paz)
  • mountain technical clothing

  • two pairs of gloves (one fleece, the other waterproof, mittens recommended)

  • No compulsory vaccinations in Bolivia. Yellow fever vaccine and anti-malaria treatment recommended for the Amazon, no particular recommendation for the Yungas.
